The Coo Coo Bird is an old traditional tune. Our version of it is based off of Clarence Ashley's version on the Anthology of American Folk Music by Harry Smith. Clarence Ashley told Alan Lomax that he took the tune for his version from another tune called "The Fourth of July," and the words from a tune called "The Coocoo Bird.”
From the first time we met, Rob & Leah were awesome, completely warm and welcoming and genuine. No drama, no BS, no pretension or ego, just good people making good music. You always knew you were in good hands with Rob at the mixing board. And Leah was just wonderful; it always felt good just to be around her, to look out into the audience and see her smiling face. Working with them, you knew you were going to have a good time with good friends and together you were going to make a great night for the audience.

I knew Bob before he was 'Slim'. Then lost touch. Always followed him musically from Buzz Barker and the Atomic Bums to his solo work. I was never much into listening to live music at First Ave or bars so I didn't really get to watch him play and sing. I did see him open for Roseanne Cash once. Take care Bob! clayb
