about
“this is a true story about one long day/night. this song was written on my birthday in sept 2012, while leah was in the ER in eau claire, wi. she had a very bad night and at some point after midnight and the pain meds finally kicked in, she looked over at me and said "i'm sorry for ruining your birthday" it broke my heart. i replied "just don't die today.” while i believe she was ready to go, we weren't ready so she stuck around for nearly 3 more grueling, torturous months. and when we did bring her home a few days later, i played this song for her. she loved it and gave me a "thumbs up". it's also the bookend to leah's birthday song, tree's fallin', which was on the first R4R release. lastly, me and sticks have no doubt that leah's favorite part of this song would be paige's contribution.
we love and miss you leah.”
